Thanks a lot for a comprehensive guide to SAP’s Product Portfolio. I think the SaaS or the Cloud model gave a good start to the SME’s but in the long run the total cost of ownership or per user license cost may impose significant challenges for the SME as the demand and usage increases in the future. SAP’s decision to target the SME market through it’s SaaS based offering came way later then it’s prime time competitors and today when the market is full of small to medium and industry focused software vendors it would be hard for the giant to steal some quick deals. SAP Business By Design failed to left a mark in 2007 but indeed it’s getting some momentum lately.
Whatever it is, SAP is definitely a quick learner and I think SAP will make an impression on the SMEs very soon. But for now the battle has just begun, and giants would require new ammo to devastate more on the ground.
